When Do Clek Car Seats Expire? (9 Years)

Clek has the easiest expiration policy in the business: 9 years, for every seat it makes. The infant seat, the convertibles, and the boosters all run on the same clock, counted from the date of manufacture. There is no model by model lookup and no list of exceptions to memorize. Find the manufacture date on your seat’s label, or enter it into our Baby Car Seat Expiration Checker, and you will have your answer in seconds.

    Clek Expiration Rules

    • 9 years: the Liing infant seat
    • 9 years: the Foonf and Fllo convertibles
    • 9 years: the Oobr, Olli, and Ozzi boosters

Clek states the same 9 year figure on each product page, in the same words, which makes secondhand shopping simpler than with most brands. The only variable is the manufacture date. Once a Clek seat passes its ninth year, it should not be used. One nice extra: Clek runs a manufacturer recycling program, so an expired or crashed seat can go back to the company instead of a landfill.

Where Is the Date on a Clek Seat?

The date of manufacture and the serial number are printed on a label on the seat. The exact position changes with the model, and it is usually on the back or the underside of the shell. Clek’s support site publishes a locator article for each seat, including the Foonf, Fllo, Liing, and Oobr, with pictures of where to look. Add 9 years to the manufacture date and you have the expiry.

What If the Seat Has Been in a Crash?

Replace it, whatever the crash looked like. Clek requires replacement after a collision of any kind, because structural damage is not always visible. The company asks owners to report the crash to its support team at 1-866-656-2462 with the model and serial number, and it will provide a letter on company letterhead that lays out the replacement policy for your insurance claim. Crashed seats can also go back through the recycling program.

Can You Fly With a Clek Seat?

Clek’s harnessed seats can. The Liing, and the Foonf and Fllo in harness mode, carry aircraft certification, and the statement is on the seat’s label. The Oobr booster is not certified for aircraft, because a booster needs a lap and shoulder belt and airplane seats have lap belts only.

    Clek Expiration FAQs

How long are Clek car seats good for?

Nine years across the whole lineup. The Liing, Foonf, Fllo, Oobr, Olli, and Ozzi all expire 9 years after their date of manufacture. Find the date on the seat’s label and add 9 years.

Where is the expiration date on a Clek seat?

Clek labels carry the date of manufacture and serial number, and the position varies by model. Clek’s support site has a locator guide for each seat. The expiry is always 9 years after the manufacture date.

Does Clek require a new seat after a minor collision?

Yes. Clek’s policy is replacement after a collision of any kind, however minor. Report it to support with your serial number, get the insurance letter, and recycle the old seat through Clek’s program.

    Check Your Clek Seat

One label, one date, one answer. Run your manufacture date through our Baby Car Seat Expiration Checker to confirm where your seat stands, and read our explainer on car seat expiration if you want the reasoning behind the dates. For anything about your specific seat, Clek’s official site at clekinc.com is the source.
